International tech and digital talent solutions specialist Lorien has appointed a new Head of Public Sector for England and Wales.

James Cook, who joins with over 10 years’ experience in public sector recruitment, will provide a fresh focus for Lorien’s public sector clients in England and Wales, working alongside Lorien's established and successful public sector offering in Scotland, led by Chris Ferguson.

Lorien is already a partner to many public sector clients, including in central and local government, regulated and arm’s length bodies, higher education, and for consultancies delivering services to the public sector, however Lorien has only recently carved the sector out as its own practice across the UK following several high-profile client wins in 2021 and 2022.

James said: “I am excited to be reimagining service and value for the public sector, and to lead Lorien’s public sector practice at such a pivotal time. The public sector is going through an interesting period of change at the moment, and people will be key to its success. Lorien is already a key player in Scotland’s public sector, and I’m looking forward to building on those existing partnerships across the UK while bringing Lorien’s brand of scalable, specialist-led talent solutions to the wider sector. I think it’s a really attractive proposition for an industry focused on digital transformation.”

David Gettins, Managing Director at Lorien, commented: “I am delighted to welcome James to Lorien. His experience and knowledge of the sector will be vital for Lorien’s public sector clients and their long-term talent strategy. One of the pillars of a Lorien service is expert-to-expert engagement for every requirement, so I am thrilled to be able to add one of the industry’s most experienced minds to our existing team of experts.”

James is currently reaching out to his existing network and would love to hear from new connections. If you’d like to get in touch with any queries or questions on the public sector, email james.cook@lorienglobal.com.
