Chris Blackburn, Director of Skills Growth for the Impellam Group, was recently shortlisted and highly commended in the Skills Champion category for the Yorkshire and Humber Region at the Apprenticeships and Skills Awards.
The awards – which celebrated its 21st anniversary this year – was conceived to highlight and honour the achievements of apprenticeship students and those who champion apprenticeship programmes. The judges look for “strong advocates of apprenticeships and skills, who showcase how they proactively go beyond their normal duties to promote apprenticeships and skills as an excellent career route”.
Chris said of the achievement: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been highly commended in this category. It’s been an incredible journey, and to receive this recognition alongside such inspiring individuals makes it even more special. Together, we’re championing early careers, driving change, and helping others find their own path”.
This is Chris’s second recognition in 2024 after receiving the ‘Biggest Impact to the Network’ award from the Yorkshire and Humber Apprenticeship Ambassador Network. Chris received the award due to his guidance for today and tomorrow’s apprentices through presentations, career events, workshops and social media campaigns.
