Overview:
We are seeking a Field Maintenance Wireless Engineer to oversee the technical quality of DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems) under maintenance contracts across a range of venues, including small, medium, and large sites. This role involves maintaining, commissioning, and integrating DAS systems, troubleshooting issues, conducting light repairs, and managing inventory. You will also act as an engineering representative at various locations, including both on-site and remote settings, ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of wireless DAS projects.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage DAS systems under maintenance contracts.
- Commission and integrate DAS systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues reported by customers and service providers.
- Conduct light repairs, including remote unit replacements, head-end equipment swaps, and coax or possible fiber repairs.
- Manage spares inventory and RMA equipment to ensure availability.
- Conduct site surveys and gather engineering requirements for system changes and new initiatives.
- Interpret and communicate customer concerns to internal project stakeholders, facilitating issue resolution.
- Partner with internal teams to identify equipment needs for installation and repair projects.
- Maintain as-built documentation through system changes in collaboration with project stakeholders.
- Guide construction teams to implement necessary design changes without compromising design integrity.
- Serve as a technical resource for wireless system troubleshooting and perform complex troubleshooting tasks on-site.
- Commission, decommission, integrate, test, and turn-up telecommunications equipment.
- Develop test and optimization plans, review field data, and guide performance enhancements for In-Building wireless system deployments.
- Observe and document best practices to continually improve In-Building wireless system design and installation.
- Administer on-site field training programs as needed.
- Assist with iBwave Designs and other projects specifying equipment and labor tasks outside of specified maintenance sites.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Experience with installation, testing, and commissioning of RF repeater/BDA and small cell products.
- Familiarity with DAS product lines such as Corning/One, ADRF, Commscope, Solid, TEKO, and related certifications.
- Proficiency in operating and supporting performance testing with scanners, TEMS, WINd, or other collection equipment.
- Ability to perform sweeps, connectorized coax, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
- Experience using spectrum analyzers, power meters, PIM testers, signal generators, and OTDRs for troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of wireless technologies including CBRS, LTE, LTE-A, and next-gen 5G.
Travel/Shift Requirements:
- Travel within the local market as needed.
